So very busy

I’ve been way too busy at work this last week to have time to post at all. I’m working on two huge projects, and I’m the lead on both of them, so I’m so busy I don’t really have time for anything. I’ve had a hard time remembering to eat the past few days, which is good but also bad. I need to eat at regular intervals so I don’t get starved. Speaking of eating, I’m down 8 (maybe 9) pounds now. I’ve been consistently losing about 2 lbs per week, and it feels great. I wish it were coming off faster, but at least that scale is moving and that keeps me motivated. And ‘they’ say that 2-3 lbs is as much as you should lose each week when you are doing it right.

Peyton had (has) his first fever today. I knew that he was feeling warm and acting a little droopy, and sure enough, 100.1. I really hope that he is just teething and that tomorrow morning he will be back to normal and I can go to work. I can’t possibly imagine taking a day off right now, I’m already so behind as it is.

Peyton is almost 4 months old. He is getting so big – almost rolling over, and has started using stage 2 nipples. Tonight he downed 7ozs in about 10 minutes.

And they started cutting down the trees on our land today. It is sad, but at the same time I can’t wait to see the land without the trees so we can get a better feel for the ‘lay of the land’ and see if a basement house would work.

I’m getting so flippin’ excited about the Scrap Etc Event that I’m going to in March. I can’t wait!!! It is going to be such a blast.

Goodwill or bust

Well, I busted. Couldn't find ANYTHING at Goodwill. I don't know if it is because I'm a larger size now or because more people shop at Goodwill, but I just can't find good clothes like I used to. I used to have to get a buggy and at the end chose between the things I liked b/c I would have half a buggy full. I didn't even find anything in the 'goods' section. I usually find a basket or book or something to buy. So, I wasted my lunch break.

Today I finally finished a project that I have been putting off for awhile here at work. I now have my application working on touch screens throughout the complex. The first few weeks might be a little shaky while I work out all the bugs, but at least it is finally being used.

I'm feeling much better today, and hopefully by tomorrow I'll be back to my 'normal' self. I really need to be working out to help me lose weight. Currently I'm down 6, so 14 more til the March 15th deadline. I'm planning on going to the gym tomorrow and Friday either after work or at lunch.

And I forgot to mention this in yesterday's post - but while I was gone to visit Aunt Marie, Eric cleaned almost the whole house. AND started organizing the garage. It was so nice to come home to a super clean house!!! Thanks Sweetie!

I'm sick yet again!

Well, I am sick again. I have 'medicine head' big time. I'm going to go home a little early and take a good nap so I'll hopefully start feeling a little better.

The dress I ordered didn't fit at all. It was HUGE! Which I guess is a good thing, so I ordered this in two sizes. And since it is a suit, I can wear it to work when I have important meetings - and it was only $35 bucks.

http://www.onestopplus.com/clothing/Tall-long-skirt-suit-by-Allison-Woods.aspx?PfId=18796&DeptId=11588&ProductTypeId=1

Over the weekend, Peyton and I went on our first ever overnight trip. We went down with Aunt Kat to see Aunt Marie (the one that had the double knee replacement). Peyton did so good. He was even a great baby when he was up way past his bedtime. And he slept great at Marie's house. I on the other hand did NOT. I was so happy to be home last night!

The Saints lost, but the Colts won. So - one of the teams I wanted to win did. Now I can't wait for the superbowl. We better have our big screen tv back by then (it is in the shop AGAIN). They give us a loner when the TV is in the shop (because we bought the warrenty) and the stinkin' loner stopped working. It won't cut on. So we had the 'big' 19" in the living room. I can't believe that is what we used to watch all the time. It seems so tiny now. But Eric moved the 19" into our room and the 36" into the living room so it isn't so bad. I could easily live wiht the 36" - but Eric is the one that loves the big screen.

No no no!!

I think I'm getting sick AGAIN! Noooo. Please! I haven't even been 'over' my cough/sore throat for a week yet. I'm feeling a cold coming on. I will definitely use the Zicam tonight as soon as I get home, but please cold - stay away!!! Mommies should have a 'get out of being sick free card' - because now that I'm a mom I can't just stay in bed when I dont' feel good. No fair!

Signing papers today

This afternoon we will be signing the papers for the sell of our trees. I'm still a little nervous about this process - be we will be replanting the land as soon as the land has been cleared - and they are only taking the pines, they will not be taking any of the hardwoods (which take much longer to grow). This is land that has been harvested many times (it used to be owned by a timber company), so that makes me feel a little bit better.

We are still having a hard time figuring out what we are going to do about our house. In the last year, building material costs have continued to go up, so it would cost more to build another house. For the same house, it would probably cost us about the same as what we paid - even though we went WAY over. Everything will work out though. God will provide! One of the main things that I think about is the fact that this house is big enough for us to raise our family in, no matter how many kids we have (3-4 being the max that we want). However, I know that if we decide to sell and move - God will provide us with the perfect house for now, and if it isn't big enough, he will provide for us later also.

Then I wonder if we should build on our land. It is about a 30min drive from work, and about 15-20 minutes farther out of town from where we live now. It is far enough away from town that you wouldn't want to have to run errands once you got home, and on the weekends we probably wouldn't want to leave the house. It is too far out to 'run' get something to eat, and it still be nice and hot when we get it home. No pizza delivery! No quick trip to a gas station for milk. Etc. But we have LAND! We would have plenty of room for our house and anything else we could imagine. I'm even hoping that one day, if our kids decide to live in the same town, that they could build a house right there on our land and be nice and close to us. Of course, we have no idea what the next 20 years will bring - but it is a nice thought.

Anyway, we will be harvesting the trees this month. I'll be paying off the credit cards with the money, and praying that we can keep the balance down.

On another note - Eric has an interview today (in 30 mins). I pray that IF this is the right job for him, he will get it, if it isn't, then the right job will come along soon.

Red Dress has been ordered

I don't know if I have mentioned this yet, but my Mom is getting married in Feb. I have to get a red dress because I am in the wedding. A red dress. Geez. Is there a worse color for a 'fat-just-had-a-baby' body? Maybe hot pink or orange would be worse, but red is still BAD. This is the dress I ordered, and I'm praying that I won't look huge.
http://www.onestopplus.com/product.aspx?Pfid=89956&DeptId=&ProductTypeId=1&PurchaseType=0

Maybe by then I can be down another 5 lbs - so i won't feel too horrible. But I don't think I would feel 'good' in any dress at this point. As long as you can't see my rolls or cottege cheese - I'll be happy.

Down 5, 15 to go

I've lost 5 lbs. Now only 15 more to go to meet me 20 lb goal by March 15th. It is so easy to gain weight, but so hard to lose it. I know I'm preaching to the choir - but it is true. At least I'm starting to see some results, which makes it so much easier to keep going. I just need to STAY motivated!!!

I also washed the dog twice last week - so I'm doing pretty good with that goal too.

Eric and I are seriously thinking about buying a used elliptical trainer. We aren't going to cancel the gym, but this would be easy to use when we don't have time to get to the gym - or early in the morning or later at night when they are closed. We really need to figure out what we are going to be spending our Christmas money on. This wouldn't be all the money - but it would be at least half of it.

Long weekend

What a long weekend. Friday night we went to see the new baby (Kane) and boy was he big. I was looking back at pictures of Peyton, and he wasn't as big as Kane until he was about 4-5 weeks. After visiting with the baby, we went out to eat with Eric's sister and her family, and Eric's mom. Dinner was nice, it took awhile though, so we got home about an hour after Peyton's bed time. It was hard to get him down, and I gave up a few times and let him play, but around 9:30 he was finally ready to go to bed, and so was I. I kept waking up coughing, but Eric was a good 'Dr. Dad'. Finally I got to sleep and 6:30 came WAY too fast. Eric got up with him in the middle of the night and that morning when he woke up. I didn't get out of bed until around 8, which was almost time for Peyton's first nap, so I got back in bed until around 10 - which was so nice and VERY needed.

I walked around in a fog for most of the day Saturday, but we didn't have anything to do - except watch football. When I got up I was so surprised. Not only had Eric been keeping Peyton for me, he had also done the laundry and cleaned the living room and kitchen!!! He had done all the things that I normally do on the weekend, and I didn't have to stress about getting things done all weekend. THANKS Honey!!!

Sunday was great. Two football games, church and lunch with our friends. The preacher is starting off the year with a Financial Series. Great, Just Great. I don't need to know about how the bible says we should tithe. I don't have 10% to tithe. Eric and I are having a really hard time figuring out what to do with our house. It is costing us around $450 more per month than it should have because we (the stupid contractor) went way over budget. If we sold the house, we would be out of debt. If we keep the house, I know that we will never have to move again because it is big enough to expand with our family as we grow. I've been praying alot, and we just don't know what to do. Sunday I also got a scrapbook layout finished, and made a card for my sister for her birthday.

Yesterday, nothing special. Eric slept all day, mainly because I gave him my medicine b/c I thought he might be getting sick - and I didn't want him to get sick - so I might have given him the medicine early. Well, he isn't sick, but yesterday he barely got out of bed because the medicine knocked him out.

Aunt Marie's double knee replacement surgery went well on Friday. She is already in rehab and was up moving the very next day. She is in alot of pain, but it will be worth it because she was ALWAYS in pain before, and after she heals, she should feel like a new lady!

Zicam to the rescue

Last night I took Zicam cold and flu nighttime medicine before bed, and I actually didn't stay wake half the night coughing. Today I didn't feel sick anymore, but I was so tired that I kind of walked around in a fog all day. I don't know if it was the medicine from last night that hadn't worn off - or if my body was telling me to rest since I had been sick for a week.

And, this is post number 264 - which was how many posts I had in my previous online journal (http://rockslady7.livejournal.com). So - that means over 500 total posts.

Kane has arrived

Kane Charles was born this morning at 10:41, he is 9 lbs 10.5 ozs and 22 inches.

That is one HUGE baby! And Heather is so small. He was born via a scheduled c-section because her last baby had to be delivered by a c-section after a long labor attempt.

I'll get to go see him tonight.

My Goals

My ‘goals’. Gosh, I don’t even know where to start. I have so many things that I would love to do, things I need to do, things I want to learn how to do, etc – yet here I am ready to make my list, and where have all my ideas gone?

So, I guess I’ll start with the obvious.

1. Lose weight. – 2 lbs per week, my first ‘mini’ goal for my weight loss is to lose 20 lbs by mid-March – which is when I’ll be going to the Scrapbook Weekend Event. To reach my ‘ideal’ weight, I need to lose 65 lbs, but I’ll be happy losing 45-50 lbs. I know that I’m not going to lose this weight overnight, but I also know that it is a commitment that I’m going to have to stick to. I’ve already lost and gained back about 10 lbs three times since Peyton has been born. It is so hard to lose the weight, but it is SO easy to gain it back. I’ll have to keep eating good and exercising if I can expect any of the weight to come off and stay off.

2. Enjoy Life – I need to make sure I take time to slow down and really enjoy this special time with Peyton and Eric. I don’t need to spend every extra second trying to keep the house clean, doing laundry, etc – nothing is as important as spending time with them. I only get to see Peyton for about 2 hours after work before he is in bed, so I’m going to plan on spending that time with him – and Eric, and not doing all the ‘stuff’ that needs to be done. I can do that after he goes to bed.

3. Enjoy Myself – I need to make time for me. Time to craft and scrapbook, take bubble baths, read and exercise. Take time to make me happy and so that I can feel good about myself.

4. Take better care of Jasmine (my dog) – I need to take a little time to love on her everyday. Even if it is just five minutes. She is so neglected right now. I also need to start back my bi-weekly bath routine and keep her ears clean (she has chronic ear infections). Right now, she has an ear infection and a yeast infection on her skin. I have the medicine to treat both, but too many days go by without me treating her. This sounds so horrible, but honestly, since Peyton was born, I don’t even think about her much. I need to bathe her at least 3x’s a week until the yeast infection is gone, and it will take about two weeks to heal, but if I don’t make it a priority, then it could spread and get worse – and I don’t want her to be in any pain.

Those are pretty much the jest of what I would like my goals for this year to be. I’m going to re-address my goals quarterly.

These are the things that I would LIKE to work on during the first quarter. I’m not stressing this list at all, if I don’t get around to them, they will just get pushed back to the next quarter.
- Lose 20 lbs
- Exercise a minimum of 3 times a week
- Organize all of my craft and scrapbook stuff
- Scrapbook at least 3 times a week after Peyton goes to bed – or do whatever makes me happy for an hour or more.
- Get involved at church again
- Finish my 'special' secret project

And these are things I would like to get done over the next year.
- Organize the garage
- Plant grass in the back yard
- Get shutters for our house
- Move Eric’s car (the one that isn’t driven) into the garage
- Learn how to knit
- Make the bonus room upstairs a play area for Peyton before his first birthday
- Organize the guest room, get the junk out of there, put the bedding ON the beds, hook up the tv and get the bathroom done (it needs a good cleaning, shower curtain, towels, hardware, etc.)
- Finish my china cabinet refinishing and move it into my scrap/craft room for storage
- Get a family picture done that we like
- Buy or make a bed
- Visit JR and Johnnie
- Visit Aunt Kat
- Make a few gifts for Christmas

This week

This week.

- I've been sick since Saturday, and I'm finally feeling better - except at night when it is time to go to sleep - that is when I can't stop coughing. I use cough drops, throat spray, and vapor rub - nothing works.

- I've lost 4 pounds - maybe 5 since last Friday

- My SIL will be having a c-section tomorrow, so I'll be an aunt again.

- Peyton slept 12 hours for the first time EVER last night. He is such a good baby, I am so blessed.

- Last night I put all the Christmas photos into Peyton's Christmas Scrapbook. I posted pictures of the scrapbook here.

- I LOVE Scrapbookpictures.com - they are so fast and I love all the sizes they print the pictures in (for very reasonable prices).

- Peyton's first picture album is almost full - need to buy another one. Can't believe I've taken over 1000 pictures since he was born. (I haven't printed them all though - probably only about 300 of them)

- I have to go to the doctor today because we switched doctors, so this is the 'initial' visit. She is going to ask me a million questions, and then send me for bloodwork. Not fun. but maybe I can get a perscription to help me get over this stinkin cold

- I have been cooking really good meals for us this week, which is helping me lose weight, but it is also hopefully helping Eric with his cholesterol problem.

- I still need to set my goals for the year.

- And I cannot wait to do my taxes! I know that sounds weird, but we always get money back and honestly - they are NOT hard to do, so I can't wait to get all the documents so I can file.

- My sisters birthday is on Sunday, so I have to figure out what to do for her.

Looking back some more

2007 Goals - I still need to get my thoughts out on paper along with a plan as to how to accomplish the goals. But first, I looked back on last years 'resolutions' and oh brother! Nothing was accomplished at all! Well, things were accomplished - just not the things that I said would get done.

This is last years list:
1. To completely organize my scrap/craft room.
2. Lose weight, even if it is just 5 lbs, and don't gain ANYMORE.
3. Start a scrapping club.
4. Finish all of my current furniture refinishing projects, and don't start anymore until they are finished!!!
5. Completely organize everything that we bring into the new house.
6. Work on my witnessing
7. Continue to pay down our debts, and DO NOT charge ANYTHING.

Let me elaborate a little. I actually did lose some weight last January, about 6 lbs if I remember correctly. Then I found out I was pregnant, and that goal changed to trying to not gain 100 lbs over the pregnancy. I only gained about 40 lbs, so I think I did pretty good. I half-way accomplished the furniture resolution...although I did not finish any existing projects (due to being preggo) but I didn't add any new ones except for painting Peyton's hutch. Being organized didn't exactly work either. Everything baby related is very organized and I did purge lots of stuff - I also completely organized the garage, but after a few months it looks like a pig stye again. I didn't work on my witnessing at all. In fact, I have been a horrible slacker since around last May and I'm very ashamed that I have let myself not only get out of the habit of going to church, but we no longer have any responsibilities at church - which was something that I enjoyed.

But what hurts the most is #7. Continue to pay down debts and to not use the credit cards. We failed misserably. And we failed before Eric lost his job. After that, everything went right out the window. I make enough money to pay the bills. That is about it. So we have been charging food, clothes, baby stuff, etc. We are constantly praying for Eric to get another job, and then we hope to really tackle the debt. The selling of the trees on our land will also help take care of this - but I have started to think that there is no way we will ever be out of debt. This isn't something that I stress anymore. It used to drive me crazy and I stressed it all the time. I now realize that it is something that most American's have, even if they don't admit it, and we can work on it - but by putting so much stress on ourselves to pay down the debts, we end up having to charge because we have made our budget too tight. One day, they will be paid off, but I'm not about to feel guilty and stress it all the time. The main goal is to not charge anymore - and once we get back on track we can hopefully accomplish this.

And the scrapping club and organizing my craft room slipped also. Mostly due to the fact that while I was pregnant most of my free time and energy went toward the baby room. Which is funny considering that Peyton has not even slept in his room once! But now that he is sleeping pretty much all night (7-5 the last 3 nights) it is time to start thinking about moving him. I did organize my scrap stuff, but if you looked in my office/craft room you wouldn't think that. And the scrap club is something that I still want to do, but that might be hard with Peyton being so young right now.

So, this post has been taken over by last years resolutions that didn't happen, tomorrow I shall post on my GOALS for 2007.

Sick Mommy

The last few days have not been fun. I have been sick since Saturday night, and Sunday and Monday were really bad days for me.

Yesterday I took off because I really needed to rest and get better. I took Peyton to Ms. C's because so that I could hopefully sleep all day. Around 11ish, Ms. C called me and I could hear Peyton screaming in the background. Screaming! So, I go to get him. I was worried that he might have an ear infection because this is the 3rd time in the last week I have had to go get him early because he wouldn't stop crying, but then when we get home he is all happy - so I didn't know what to do. Yesterday was the last straw, I was taking him to the doctor. Maybe he was sick and just didn't seem sick around us. I didn't take him earlier b/c I really felt that I would know if my baby was sick, and he did not seem sick to me.

Well, he wasn't sick - so I guess my mother's intuition was right. He was just fine. He is now 14lbs 8ozs. At 3 months that seems huge! Just two weeks ago he was 13lbs. We had to wait about an hour to see the doctor, and then my poor little guy had to get his finger pricked so they could check his bloodwork. I'm glad that he is healthy and not sick - so I have to figure out what the problem is at Ms. C's. He has been fine the last month at her house, so how could everything change so much? I did realize that he hadn't been getting a morning nap - and I told her that he really needs his nap and that he might be getting cranky from being overtired. Today he seems to be fine again. I hope that was the problem, we shall see over the next few days.

And last night the Gators won! I'm not a huge Florida fan, but I am a fan of the SEC. However, last nights game was sad. This means another season is over, and we will have MONTHS of horrible TV on the weekends. We love football season, always a game on. At least we still have the NFL playoffs for a few weeks. The playoffs are my FAVORITE part of the season. Too bad the Falcon's aren't in the playoffs, but at least we have a new coach, which means next year will be exciting just for that reason. I don't know if we will have season tickets next year, but I have a feeling we will somehow make it work. Better start saving up the money now.

Packed Away

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I've already had to pack away a big box full of clothes. SAD!!! He is growing so fast. I'm guessing he is going to be in the 6-9 month clothes way before he is 6 months old.

What I've been up to

Over the long weekend, I finally got time to scrap. It was so nice. I'm trying to do a little bit everynight - and so far it is working. You can view my latest work here. This is my favorite layout so far, which I finished tonight in about 30 minutes. It looks kind of distorted, so click on the image to see the whole layout.

This is what the journaling says:
Peyton, I love all of the cute faces you make. These two pictures capture those faces pefectly. You were only one month old when I took these, so you weren't smiling yet - but you still made the sweetest facial expressions when Daddy talked to you. You can smile and 'baby talk back to us now, but I never want to forget those first few perfect baby faces you made for us during your first month. Love, Mom. Pictures 11-1-06, Journaling 1-5-07

Goodbye Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell is my mom's dog, we got her when I was in 9th grade, so she is about 13 years old. When we first got married, she lived with us for about 2 years, but we had to give her back to my mom b/c she had potty problems really bad, and we had just built a new house and didn't want her ruining the carpet. We do still have Jasmine - which is her daughter.

Well, Tink has gotten sick alot over the last year, and has lost a ton of weight. She is constantly caughing up yuckiness and recently started coughing up blood. My mom should have taken her to the doctor a long time ago, but since no one that lives there cares about the dog, she has gotten really sick. So, my mom is putting her down today.

I feel guilty b/c I know if she would have stayed with us, we would have taken much better care of her and she would have been happier. But, at the same time I'm angry with my mom. Tink was NOT my dog. She never was until my sister started ignoring her and I took her with me when I got married mainly so that Jasmine wouldn't be lonely. I'm angry because no one has showed her any love for probably the last 2+ years.

I hope my mom feels guilty. She cares more about her new 'life' since getting divorced. She is never home with my brother (who is only 17) and hasn't been around on the weekends for the last 3 years or so. She lives with her fiance 30 minutes away from Friday-Monday which is the time that she really should be keeping a better eye on my brother. Corey has started getting into quite a bit of trouble lately, and I think that if she was around more, that he wouldn't be. Who knows?!? All she does is party and drink on the weekends. She never stays home anymore. It is sad. But of course, she did raise us and deserves to live her own life now, but she needs to finish raising my brother.

Urgh. This has totally turned into a mom vent instead of a 'remembering Tinkerbell' post...but everything that I said is true. Maybe once mom gets married in Feb her life will slow down again and she will act like our old mom.

Bad Cholesterol

Eric got back his bloodwork today, and he has VERY bad cholesterol. We are going to have to start a more strict eating plan and workout plan - which we have been trying to do for weeks, but it just hasn't taken off too well. Hope this will be the motivation we both need to get our butts in gear.

Three Months Old

Highlights from Peyton's third month:
- Peyton can hold his head up now
- He is sleeping around 6-8 hours each night - without waking up.
- He was sick for the first time (and second, and third)
- He weighted 12lbs 4 oz at his 2 month checkup and 13 lbs 1 oz at 2 1/2 months
- He can smile really big now and loves to smile for Daddy
- He has started 'talking'. He coos a lot, especially when he is excited
- He is playing with his toys now, he reaches for them, touches them and holds them
- He loves Baby Einstein, and watches the video so contently at least once a day

As for me, I'm LOVING the bedtime routine and his good sleeping. I put him down around 7ish, and he usually sleeps until sometime between 2-3:30, then I feed him again and he sleeps for another 4 hours or so. It is great. And he is sleeping in his playpen and hasn't slept with me in over 5-6 weeks. We are getting close to putting him in his room, but our monitor has interference for some reason. Both of them. So until we figure out that problem, he will stay in our room. He is also getting so vocal. I 'talk' with him all the way to work every morning. He just coos and makes sounds back and we carry on our little conversation.
